Sponsor a Child's Education
The unexpected investments we're making in programs like Club Academy are not built into our budget and current estimates are that it will cost $165,000 to operate these programs across the region.
If you're a parent you've probably struggled to determine which educational options are right for your children during the pandemic.
The new learning options are also challenging teachers, administrators, and children like never before. We're seeing an unprecedented need for the structure that a guided school experience provides families and kids, especially for those who don't have the resources or support at home to keep up academically.
In response, Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama has partnered with local school districts to offer safe, in-person classroom programs at local clubs for students and families who need an all-day guided classroom environment beginning on August 17th, 2020.
"When school systems went to full or mixed virtual programs, we knew that many of the youth we serve would fall further behind than they already were. Our mission is simple, we do whatever it takes to inspire and empower youth, especially those who need us the most to pursue Great Futures. That means we had to help." - Patrick Wynn
Club Academy was created to make sure that every child who needs help with school work during COVID-19 has access to the basic tools, support, and resources they need to continue to learn. Right now, that means providing them with a safe place to go with someone there who can help them logon, follow instructions, and make sure they are making progress.
We're also constantly adapting to the changing needs on the ground, which include plans to provide additional educational resources. Along with our traditional After School Programs, and Club Academy, we are launching a Club Academy Tutoring program that will provide both virtual and in-class options with qualified tutors who can help with a specific curriculum.
COVID-19 has changed so many things, but one thing we can agree on is that our kids come first.
Boys & Girls Club has always stepped into the gap for youth, but we've never experienced anything like this before. The unexpected investments we're making in programs like Club Academy are not built into our budget and current estimates are that it will cost the organization $165,000 to operate these programs across the region.
