About

Enrich, Expand and Transform the Lives of Our Community's Youth

With your support, in August 2019, Spirit Awakening Foundation will take 7 students and mentors, some of whom have been system-involved, on the Breaking the Chains - Never Again - Service Trip to Ghana, West Africa where we will commemorate the 400-year remembrance of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Marking the 400-year remembrance of the Atlantic Slave Trade, this year’s one of a kind adventure to Ghana will be led by Ghana-born actress, writer, and Founder of Spirit Awakening Foundation, Akuyoe Graham.

Throughout the trip, students will visit schools to participate in service and giving back and they will also visit the historic sites of Ghana - from Accra to Elmina - to the magnificent Mole National Park where they will stay at the beautiful Zaina Lodge and go on a safari. In short, this trip will serve as an opportunity to enrich, expand and transform the lives of the Spirit Awakening students.
